Bookie season two build upon what made the first outing work, while simultaneously keeping what made the batch meh.
Starring Omar J. Dorsey & Sebastian Maniscalco, season two picks up where the first one ended. our duo is in trouble and looking for an outing. The journey takes them to out of their comfort zone, while upping up the risk.
However, something still fells off. The jokes are great! But they’re far and few. There’s at least one solid laugh in each episode, but when each episode also contains at least five cheap shots, it’s kind of impossible to fully endorse it.
At this point, I’m pretty confident that we’re getting a third season. I just hope that MAX realizes what’s wrong and addresses it. You can’t put a whole show on the shoulders of a single actor’s performance. You need a solid story, a solid cast, and more than one solid joke per episode.
Should You Watch It?
A lot of Bookie is “meh”, with characters in pretty unmemorable stories. But Maniscalco’s confident-but-put-upon Danny is reason enough to watch the show while folding laundry or checking e-mails.
Where Can I Watch It?
You can stream all seasons of Bookie exclusively on Max in USA and Crave in Canada.
