Season two of Bad Sisters picks up a couple of months after the first installment with a different vibe but also double twists and turns.
So, what happens after you kill your asshole of a husband? You marry another asshole. That’s the premise of this season. To be honest, it’s nowhere near creative or fun as the first season, but that’s a high threshold to compare to.
Season two of Bad Sisters certainly suffers from the Big Little Lies effect and is markedly different in tone and pacing—even with a shock death in the second episode, it felt like nothing really happened until the penultimate installment. Claes Bang is much missed. This season feels messier and less focused. But it’s still a cut above most shows of this type, thanks to sharp writing from Horgan and quality performances across the board.
Regardless of the quality of this season, Fiona Shaw’s performance is nothing short of virtuosic. One minute you hate her, the next you feel bad for her. Give her whatever the equivalent of an Emmy is in the UK!
The season ends beautifully, retaining the impact of the first, but let’s not a season three please and thank you.
Should you watch it?
My main gripe with this season has been its overreliance on twists to keep the story moving. The first season was great. This one? Enjoyable, but not as much.
Where can I watch it?
You can stream Bad Sisters exclusively on Apple TV+.
